What are MT4 plugins?

MT4 plugins are server-side extensions that add functionality to MetaTrader 4 around specific brokerage requirements. Forex brokers use them to automate fees, risk controls, trading restrictions, execution rules and other platform operations.

What are MT5 plugins?

MT5 plugins add brokerage-specific logic to the MetaTrader 5 server. They automate operational processes, add risk controls and adapt MT5 behaviour to the brokerage’s rules, for example inactivity fees, credit bonuses, leverage limits and negative balance correction.

What is the difference between an MT4 plugin and an MT4 tool?

A plugin runs inside the trading server and changes how MetaTrader behaves: fees, risk, execution, leverage and account conditions. A tool works around the platform, covering administration, automation, data management or integration, such as swap uploads, trade imports or the Web API.

Can MT4 and MT5 plugins automate brokerage operations?

Yes. Depending on the plugin and platform, they automate inactivity fees, negative balance correction, equity-based leverage, storage fees for swap-free accounts, trading restrictions and execution rules, so the same rule is applied consistently on every account.
